Algonquin Park

The New Fire Tower Trail

Opening in 2014, the new Fire Tower Trail has been made possible by the cooperative efforts of Parks Canada, the Pembroke Fire Department, The Friends of Algonquin, and Blue Spruce Resort.

Each Spring, Blue Spruce buys yearly passes to Algonquin Park. Blue Spruce guests are charged half price for the use of these passes, thus encouraging guests to visit the Park more often. At the end of the season, Blue Spruce donates back to the Friends of Algonquin the monies received from the guests. The Friends allocate which program or project will be the recipient of this donation. In 2013 the choice was to construct a new trail, the Fire Tower Trail, beginning at the Visitor's Centre and ending at the rebuilt Fire Tower, and affording a breathtaking panorama of wild Algonquin landscape.

This trail is designed to be fully accessible, wheelchair and young child friendly, and initially one kilometer long.

We are extremely proud of our participation in this project, and welcome hiker's opinions and suggestions as to possible improvements and enhancements.
