Announcing the Winner of the “Name the Hut” Contest!
We are thrilled to announce that the hut by the beach will be called “The Gateway”! The winning submission comes from Ernest Somers, who also crafted this beautiful poem capturing the spirit of the North and the feeling of our resort:
The Gateway
There’s this place up north not too very far away,
a gateway, some would say,
a place where pine and spruce whisper in the wind, and Raven calls it home,
a place where loons swim and dive,
a place where one can hide away from the hustle and bustle of life’s relentless drive,
and the worries of another day,
a place called Algonquin, Paradise some would say.We chose The Gateway for more than just its poetic charm. Blue Spruce Resort is located at the gateway to Algonquin Park, making it the perfect starting point for guests exploring the natural beauty of the area. Many of our visitors stay with us before heading into the park, enjoying the calm of our resort’s lakeside setting, the tranquility of the pine and spruce forests, and the wildlife that surrounds us, from loons gliding across the lake to the occasional raven calling overhead.
Beyond the literal connection, the imagery in Ernest’s poem mirrors the experience of staying at Blue Spruce Resort. As the poem suggests, our resort is a place to unwind, escape the daily rush, and connect with nature. The scenery, the quiet moments by the water, and the feeling of being “away” yet so close to everything make this hut’s name a perfect reflection of both the location and the atmosphere we strive to create for our guests.
